The name alone sounded too good to be true.  Anything I’m not sure how to pronounce causes an involuntary eye roll from me.   But my suspicion that this Mt Lebanon salon would be annoyingly pretentious quickly faded as soon as I walked in the door.  Feminine without being foo-foo, La Pomponnee is fresh and relaxing.   I enjoyed some fruit-infused water while waiting (there was also coffee available).

The owner is Kristen Peckich.  She opened the salon in 1992 and what’s most impressive to me is the original six hairdressers are still working there. So Ms. Peckich must be doing something right to retain quality professionals and they all seemed to get along wonderfully.  I even overheard them talking about vacationing together so that added to a pleasant environment while I was being pampered.

There is a huge list of services offered in addition to hair: waxing, makeup, eyelash extensions, and much more.   The prices are midrange..  Haircuts start at $30 (depending on experience of hairdresser) Traditional 60 minute Swedish massage is $80, & Hot Stone Therapy $120.

Mary Ellen Marcin was my hairdresser and she updated my style without being too modern (which worried me when I was checking     out their web page photos).   I very much enjoyed the Aveda products she used, too.  My appointment started right on time and while it took a little more time than normal as we discussed what to do with my hair- the atmosphere was so pleasant I didn’t mind the wait.

I went to the Mt Lebanon salon which is at 4137 Washington Road but they have another salon in McMurray.
